When is the best time to fly to Fuerteventura?
Like all of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura is hot almost all-year round. It gets over 3000 hours of sunshine each year, whereas the UK gets less than 1000. That said the busiest time to book flights to Fuerteventura would be from June to August as schools break up for holidays and the peak of Summer kicks in. July and August can be incredibly hot though so if you don’t deal with heat too well you’d be better off visiting in Spring or Autumn. The weather is still very pleasant but with a lot less tourists.
There isn’t much of an off season but you’ll find the cheapest flights to Fuerteventura from January to March. There is a week in late October where it rains practically non-stop all day so even though you might find cheap flights to Fuerteventura then, you’ll more than likely be stuck indoors for most or all of your holiday.
You’ll find most of the flights to Fuerteventura are provided by either Ryanair or Thomas Cook. Both are reputable although Ryanair will offer the cheapest flights to Fuerteventura whilst Thomas Cook will provide a higher sense of comfort and service. Ultimately it depends on which airline you’d prefer to fly with or who offers cheaper flight tickets. Just keep an eye on the cost of checked in baggage, especially during the Summer as Ryanair charge a lot for the luxury.
How to get from the airport to the city centre?
After you arrive there are a couple of options you can take depending on where on the island you want to go. The Line 3 bus operates from the airport and goes to the capital of the island as well as through the major tourist destinations. It isn’t necessarily the quickest choice but the bus is cheap and easy and it runs around every half an hour. Other than the bus your options are either a taxi or renting a car out. You can jump into a taxi outside of the airport and they aren’t overly expensive, however you’ll pay more than if you opt for the bus. Renting a car is only really useful if you plan on driving around the island, otherwise you’ll find it more of a hindrance.
